Tuesdays & Fridays in January & February 2023

In line with Dundee Rugby Club's activities as a community focussed club, and in recognition that the cost of living crisis and in particular, the exorbitant rise in energy costs, is making life hard for many in our community, in partnership with Morgan, our Alloway Place Clubhouse is going to be open as a 'safe, warm place' two days a week from 10am to 4pm on Tuesdays and Fridays through January and February, and depending on how the temperatures are going, maybe even into March. There will be an open invitation to our neighbours in Linlathen who may be finding themselves in a horrible heat or eat dilemma to come on in to a warm welcome, a cosy clubhouse with hot drinks on the go all day, and soup and a roll at lunchtime.
We'll be kicking things off on Friday 6th January and it would be great to get a few volunteers to help out on these Tuesdays and Fridays.
Derek Miller, who is on both the DRC and Alloway Place Committees is coordinating things so if you can volunteer to help, drop an e-mail asap to Derek on dermil49@gmail.com to give an indication of which days you can do (include a phone number for quick contact purposes). Difficult to forecast how busy we'll be, and it may take a few days for word to get around, but we do know that the Brooksbank Centre down Pitkerro Road gets around a hundred people over a day on Mondays and Wednesdays (though they do 3 course meals).
Donations of biscuits, teabags, coffee etc etc welcome. If you know any friendly supermarket managers who'd donate the odd CASE or two of soup, do please bend their ears! Otherwise we'll be buying provisions as we go using club funds for what we think is a worthwhile purpose.
