The club’s five-year plan is based on rugby and coach development. We also need to develop our facilities to cater to a club with 20 rugby teams. We want to establish a strong financial base to allow us to achieve all this as ultimately we want to create the best amateur club in Scotland.

2. How was it moving up to director of rugby?

I’m a coach at heart and always will be, but it was the right time for a change and I’m enjoying the different challenges of being Director of Rugby and getting my coaching ‘fix’ whenever I can.

3. How’s the 7’s shaping up can you tell us a bit about it?

The 7s is taking shape and hopefully we are in for a brilliant weekend of rugby and socialising with friends both old and new!

4. Would Dundee Rugby Club think about merging with other clubs in the city after the success of the Dundee High & Morgan merger?

We are all about developing rugby in Tayside and all clubs are benefiting from the numbers of young players coming into the game. However, if another club decided that they wanted to come and join us then we’d welcome them on board with open arms.

5. What are your hobbies and pass times outwits rugby?

Golf, cycling, gym, reading, learning Italian and spending time with my grandchildren.
