Last weekend saw the Valkyries 2XV welcome the lovely Lismore to Alloway Place for their last game of the National Plate.
Dundee started strong, with Brooke Barr getting the first points on the board, but the conversion was narrowly missed. Lismore kept their heads up, attempting some impressive line breaks, but Dundee's defence held strong. Another opportunity was then seized by Dundee’s Nicola Barclay, who after finding some space was able to cover most of the field securing a second try which was successfully converted by Sian Barker.
Lismore then came back ready to play their best game in the second half. Fired up, the opposition scored their first try but were unsuccessful in the conversion. Strong play from Lismore saw them dominate near Dundee's try line but the Dundee defence held strong holding up another attempted try.
In the last few minutes Lismore got another one through and all eyes were on the conversion, the difference between a win or draw. Lismore narrowly missed the kick giving Dundee the win.
Thank you to Lismore for coming through, it was a pleasure as always! And a big well done to our 2XV who we have seen go from strength to strength this season: we can't wait to see what they do next season!
Thank you also to Football East Region for capturing the game with her fantastic photography skills!
