DUNDEE Rugby head coach Alan Clark is looking forward to leading his charges into the Arnold Clark men’s National One season, starting tomorrow away at Glasgow Accies.
Clark, who has taken over the role from Alan Brown, played for Dundee back in the day and has previously had a stint as assistant coach under Ian Rankin in the heady days of the Premiership and the British & Irish Cup.
Most recently coachingwise, he was at Perthshire before taking some time out last season, but now he is back at Mayfield and looking forward to leading his charges into what is to come in the second tier over the coming months.
With a rejig in Scottish club rugby following the ending of Super6/series competitions, National One is made up of 10 teams in 2024-25 with one going up and three going down.
With Stirling County and Boroughmuir set to be strong post-super6/ Series and a number of good teams in the division, every game is going to matter.
Dundee were ninth last time around, edging out of relegation trouble when just one went down, and ahead of this term Clark said: “As a coaching group and as players we are looking forward to it.
“A lot of the talk recently has been about Stirling and Boroughmuir now being in this league, but there are also good teams who have been at this level a while now such as Gala, Highland and Biggar.
“Glasgow Accies, our opponents in week one, finished fourth last season, so they will be a tough team to go up against on their own ground, but we are looking forward to all of the challenges that are to come.
“I am just excited to be back at this club that means a lot to me and I have been delighted by the effort shown by the players in pre-season.”
